Chicago History Museum
The Chicago History Museum chose Contextual Corporation and its partner SPR Inc. to help it relaunch its website on the Plone CMS platform 2006. Through 2009, Contextual has provided continued support, including Plone upgrades, integration with other sites and tools, and performance optimizations. This site launch was timed to coincide with the Museum's 150th anniversary reopening, rebranding (formerly the Chicago Historical Society) and with a blitz of advertising on radio, print, and the web (not to mention ads on the side of Greyhound buses all over Chicago.)
Columbia Center for New Media Teaching and Learning
Columbia University is using Plone for a variety of projects, including as a course CMS in the Columbia Journalism School, which publishes the Columbia News Service, in the Dental School as an e-porfolio tool, and also as an internal rapid application development platform.
Connexions
Connexions, a project at Rice University, is a place to view and share educational material made of small knowledge chunks called modules that can be organized as courses, books, reports, etc. Anyone may view or contribute.
DISCOVER magazine
DISCOVER magazine, the leading popular science magazine in the US, hired Abstract Edge to create a new website that would be more compelling to its community and subscribers. This high-traffic site, developed on the open source Plone content management system, contains every article of every issue since 1992, categorized, related and searchable, and allows DISCOVER to take advantage of blogging, podcasting, photo galleries, and video technologies, and greatly facilitates the publication of the online magazine.

Penn State's College of Business with the WebLion first migrated and launched on Plone 2.0.5 in July 2006, August 2006 brought a major site redesign and migration to Plone 2.5.1 which has garnered much attention from University leadership and has prompted other units and colleges to start adopting Plone as their CMS.

A content-rich website for a nonprofit environmental think-tank. It showcases a very polished visual design, a wide range of custom content types, members-only workflow, email newsletter integration, and full-featured blogging.

The FSF promotes the development and use of free software, particularly the GNU operating system, used widely in its GNU/Linux variant.

28th Judicial District Bar
A custom membership directory, built in Plone, is great for large associations like the 28th Judicial District Bar. Each member can keep their own profile up to date which cuts down on administrative time for managing a roster of 600 attorneys. Using Plone's fine-grained settings for roles and permissions, the public can now search and review attorney profiles based on areas of expertise or language fluency. The site also provides news, events and meeting minutes for members and helpful links in the Public Information Center. The home page highlights some interesting historical images in addition to a Historical Photo slideshow on the site.

Abortion Care Network
Connecting the abortion care community, the Abortion Care Network (ACN) is the driving force behind the movement to de-stigmatize and normalize the abortion experience while offering support and training to the abortion care community. Founded from the merging of two abortion provider based organizations, the National Coalition of Abortion Providers and the Abortion Conversation Project, ACN has created a network of independent abortion providers, supportive allied organizations, and socially conscious individuals who are deeply invested in creating an environment where women who choose abortion, and those that provide care, are no longer harassed or shamed by the choices they make.
